Zevo set out to replace traditional car rentals with a fully digital, community-driven experience focused on electric vehicles. To succeed, they needed to build a two-sided marketplace platform that was easy to use, secure, and scalable. The platform had to support real-time reservations, remote vehicle access, live GPS tracking, instant payments, and host scheduling. All of this had to work seamlessly across iOS, Android, and the web—and be ready to launch in fast-paced urban markets like Dallas and Austin.
Digihey’s team of full-stack JavaScript developers, mobile engineers, and a UI/UX expert worked hand-in-hand with Zevo to build a robust, flexible platform. We developed a cross-platform mobile app that lets users search, book, and unlock EVs in minutes, while hosts can list, schedule, and manage their vehicles with full control. A custom backend was built to handle real-time data syncing, location tracking, and secure transactions. We also introduced geo-fencing, clean-mile tracking, and instant payouts to support Zevo’s operational goals and sustainability mission.
Zevo successfully launched its platform in key Texas markets and rapidly grew its user base of both EV hosts and renters. The technology foundation enabled seamless scaling, minimized operational costs, and delivered a high-quality user experience. Most importantly, Zevo helped cut carbon emissions and promote EV adoption—bringing their goal of a net-zero transportation network one step closer to reality.
